About Lisa

Lisa Byington has become a trailblazer in broadcasting, opening doors for women in the college basketball, football and professional sports worlds. Most recently, Byington was named as the Milwaukee Bucks play-by-play announcer on Bally Sports Wisconsin, becoming the first full-time female TV play-by-play announcer for a men's major professional sports team. In March of 2021, she became the first female play-by-play announcer to work the men’s NCAA basketball tournament for CBS and Turner Sports. Lisa has continued to make history throughout her career: she provided play-by-play for various Chicago Bulls television broadcasts (one of the few females to do so on the NBA Circuit), she was the first female play-by-play voice for a college football game for the Big Ten Network in 2017, and she announced an MLS game as (what is believed to be) the first all-female broadcast of any of the five major men’s professional leagues.
Lisa has also had the chance to work the 2021 Olympic Games for NBC, as well as the Women's World Cup in 2019 for Fox. She has been a regular for the men's NCAA basketball Tournament since 2017, working as a sideline reporter, prior to her play-by-play opportunity in 2021. For several years now, she has been the voice for local broadcasts for the WNBA's Chicago Sky.
With beginnings as a broadcaster with WBKB-TV in Alpena, Mich., (which, at the time, was the second-smallest market in the country), Lisa's since made moves to Big Ten country and WLNS-TV in Lansing, Mich. She first appeared on the Big Ten Network during the network’s opening football weekend in 2007, and she has been a part of the FOX Sports and the Big Ten Network lineup for more than a decade in a variety of roles. A two-sport athlete at Northwestern, Byington played soccer and basketball, helping her teams advance to the NCAA Tournaments in both sports, and earning Academic All-Big Ten recognition.
